What electronics plants run on a shift

Electronics plants build circuit boards and the products they go into, from meters and chargers to controllers and vehicle electronics. Many are EMS plants, short for electronics manufacturing services: they build boards and devices to another company’s design. On the corridor they gather in Electronic City and Whitefield, along Hosur Road at Bommasandra, and in Hosur’s SIPCOT estates.

A board starts on the SMT line, where a printer lays solder paste through a stencil, pick-and-place machines set the parts and a reflow oven fixes them. Then come through-hole parts and hand soldering, inspection by eye and by AOI machines, conformal coating, testing at the end of the line, and box build: fitting boards, cables and harnesses into the finished product before it is packed.

It is clean, careful work. Plants often ask for ESD-safe handling, and some lines run in cleanrooms: #2017 ESD Handling Certified and #2018 Cleanroom Protocol Certified are certificate skills in the app that count only once SuperGig verifies them. A shift lists the skills it needs and one minimum level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.

From SMT line to packing: the skills plants book

Each step of an electronics line has its own trades, and each trade is a numbered skill in SuperGig Partner. Tap a skill to read about the work.

Every skill starts at L1 when you add it, and only SuperGig raises a level, from your record. A shift lists the skills it needs and one minimum level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.

Shift shapes

Four kinds of electronics shift.

Electronics lines can run several shifts a day, and a plant can post its work in any of four shapes, from a few hours to a run of up to 31 days.

  • Daily shift work

    One-day shifts

A single shift on a single day. Book day by day, as your week allows.

  • Set weekdays, every week

    Weekly repeats

The same shift on the same weekdays every week, until a date the plant sets.

  • 1 to 31 days

    Multi-day runs

A run of days, booked in one swipe. Skip a day or stop the run if your plans change, and see the effect on your SuperScore first.

  • 1 to 8 hours

    Hourly slots

A shift split into slots of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 hours, when the plant posts it that way.

What is an EMS company, and what work does it have?
EMS stands for electronics manufacturing services: a plant that builds circuit boards and finished devices to another company’s design. Its work runs from SMT lines and hand soldering to inspection, testing, box build and packing, and each of those is a numbered skill in the app, such as #1607 SMT Machine Operator, #1602 Electronics / PCB Assembly and #1610 End-of-Line Test Operator.
Which skills should I add for SMT or PCB assembly work?
The ones you can do: #1607 SMT Machine Operator if you run or load pick-and-place and reflow machines; #1602 Electronics / PCB Assembly and #1605 Soldering Operator for board assembly and soldering; #1608 Conformal Coating / Screen Printing (PCB) for coating and stencil printing; #1310 Vision / Gauge Inspection Operator for AOI and gauge checks; and #1610 End-of-Line Test Operator or #1408 Electronics Test & Repair Technician for testing. Each starts at L1 and climbs as plants approve your shifts in it.
Do electronics plants need ESD or cleanroom certificates?
Some shifts do. #2017 ESD Handling Certified and #2018 Cleanroom Protocol Certified are certificate skills in the app, and they count only once SuperGig has verified them. Add it in the app, tap “Ask SuperGig to verify” and keep the original ready: SuperGig support will call you and check it against your verified Aadhaar. If a shift lists one, you need it at the shift’s level to book.
Are there part-time or weekend shifts in electronics plants?
When plants post them, yes. Shifts come as one-day shifts, weekly repeats, multi-day runs of 1 to 31 days and hourly slots of 1 to 8 hours. Set your days and time-of-day slots in My Availability and book only what fits. See part-time shifts and weekend shift jobs.
Do I pay anything to get electronics shifts?
No. “You never pay to work here. Ever. No fees, no deposits, no agents.” If anyone asks you for money to get a SuperGig shift, don’t pay. Call us on +91 79969 95996 instead.
