What warehouse associate and helper work involves
01What the work is
Warehouse associates are the hands of the stores and the dispatch dock. In receiving (inbound) you check what came in against the delivery note or purchase order, count it, look for damage and pass it on for the goods receipt note (GRN). In put-away you take it to the bin or rack location the system or the store keeper gives. In picking and staging (outbound) you collect items for an order or a line request, check part numbers and quantities, and stage them for loading. Between those come cycle counts, relabelling and keeping aisles, racks and the floor clear. Pallet trucks are pulled by hand; driving a forklift is a separate, licensed skill.
02A shift, start to finish
A warehouse shift usually opens with the supervisor’s plan: which trucks are due in, which orders must leave, and where the team is short. Receiving is busiest in the first hours as vehicles reach the gate, and picking builds up before the dispatch cut-off. You scan or write down every movement as you go, because the stock in the system has to match the stock on the shelf. Before you leave you hand over half-done picks with a note, put the scanner back on its charger and leave your area clear for the next shift.
03Your skill in SuperGig Partner
In the app this is #1702 Warehouse Associate, matched to NCO-2015 9333.0201 (Warehouse Worker). The national Warehouse Associate qualification it is mapped to sits at NSQF level 3; that describes the level of the work, and you do not need the certificate to add the skill. #1702 starts at L1 the moment you add it, with no licence. A plant can ask for a minimum level on its warehouse shift, and SuperGig moves you up from approved #1702 shifts, arriving on time and plant ratings.

How your level rises
#1702 Warehouse Associate starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Each skill climbs from L1 to L5. Only SuperGig sets a level, from your record, never the app. Three things move it up:
- Approved shifts in the skillShifts a plant approved that listed this skill when it was posted.
- Arriving on timeAn arrival SuperGig verified, such as the WorkPass check at the gate.
- How plants rate your workIt counts once a plant has rated you. Before that it never holds you back.
The app shows what your next level needs.
The skill check on a shift
A plant can list skills on a shift with one minimum level for all of them, from L1 to L5. You need every listed skill at that level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.
A shift with no skills listed has no skill check: any KYC-verified Partner can book it.
