What security guard work involves
01What the work is
Plant security is mostly control and record. At the gate you check every employee, contractor and visitor: ID, gate pass, appointment and what they carry. Material leaves only against an outward gate pass, returnable items are logged for their return, and vehicles are checked against their papers on the way in and out. Inside the plant you patrol a set route, check that doors, stores and fire exits are as they should be, watch for fire, leaks or trespass, and write everything in the shift log. In an emergency the guard opens the gates for responders and helps with evacuation.
02A shift, start to finish
A guard’s shift starts with the handover: the log from the last shift, the keys, the visitor register, any special instructions and the radio. Gate duty peaks at shift changes, when workers and vehicles flow both ways; between peaks come patrols and checks of fire equipment along the route. At plants that use SuperGig Plant, Partners arriving for a shift show their WorkPass at the gate: the guard types its 6-digit code, which changes every 30 seconds, or scans its QR code, and the app answers “Verified” or “Not this shift”. The shift ends with the log written up and a handover in person.
03Your skill in SuperGig Partner
In the app this is #1902 Security Guard, under Facility, Housekeeping & Safety, matched to NCO-2015 5414.0501 (Gateman/Unarmed Security Guard) and the national General Duty Guard cum Watchman qualification at NSQF level 2. Adding it puts you at L1 straight away. One thing to be clear about: SuperGig checks your KYC (Aadhaar and PAN) and your skill levels, but it does not verify PSARA status, the training and licensing that the Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005 sets for security agencies and the guards they deploy. A plant that needs it must check it itself.

- Alarm and 112 firstIn a fire or medical emergency, raise the alarm and call for help before anything else; the app’s SOS leads with 112.
- Report, do not tackleNever confront an intruder or a fight on your own: observe, report and call your supervisor.
- Night patrol careCarry a torch, keep to lit routes where you can and check in by radio at each round.
- Weather at the postGates are exposed: drink water in the heat and keep rain gear at the post.
Security guard levels, L1 Starter to L5 Master
Plants book by skill number and level. Add the numbered skills you can do; each one climbs from L1 to L5 as plants approve your shifts in it.
- L1Starter
You work the gate and registers alongside an experienced guard and learn the plant’s routines.
- L2Skilled
You handle gate duty and patrols on your own and keep the registers complete.
- L3Proficient
You run a post for a shift, handle vehicle and material checks and write clear incident reports.
- L4Expert
You manage busy gates and emergencies, and guide the other guards on the shift.
- L5Master
You train guards, check their posts and help the plant improve its security routine.
How your level rises
#1902 Security Guard starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Each skill climbs from L1 to L5. Only SuperGig sets a level, from your record, never the app. Three things move it up:
- Approved shifts in the skillShifts a plant approved that listed this skill when it was posted.
- Arriving on timeAn arrival SuperGig verified, such as the WorkPass check at the gate.
- How plants rate your workIt counts once a plant has rated you. Before that it never holds you back.
The app shows what your next level needs.
The skill check on a shift
A plant can list skills on a shift with one minimum level for all of them, from L1 to L5. You need every listed skill at that level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.
A shift with no skills listed has no skill check: any KYC-verified Partner can book it.
Licences and standards for security guard work
Licences and certificates
- #2010 Fire Warden / Fire Safety CertifiedSuperGig verifies
- #2009 First-Aid CertifiedSuperGig verifies
There is no security-licence skill in the app. A guard shift can list #2010 Fire Warden / Fire Safety Certified or #2009 First-Aid Certified, and each counts only once SuperGig has verified it.
Skills marked “SuperGig verifies” count only once SuperGig has verified them.
