Also calledfirst aider,first aid assistant,occupational health assistant,OHC attendant,factory first aid,medical room assistant,health centre assistant

A first-aid and occupational health assistant runs a plant’s first-aid room and boxes, gives first aid for minor injuries and illness, keeps the injury register, and supports the doctor or nurse at the occupational health centre (OHC) and the response to emergencies. Add skill #1906 First-Aid / Occupational Health Assistant in the SuperGig Partner app, and when plants in Hosur and around Bengaluru post first-aid shifts, you see each one on the map with its pay before you book.

The work

What first-aid and OHC assistant work involves

01What the work is

Factories see small injuries every day: cuts from sheet metal, burns from hot parts, particles in the eye, sprains, and people who feel faint in the heat. The first-aid assistant is the first trained person to respond. You clean and dress wounds, flush eyes, cool burns, check pulse and breathing, and decide with the OHC doctor or nurse whether someone needs a hospital. Just as important is what happens before and after: first-aid boxes stocked and in date in every area, stretchers and eye-wash stations ready, every case written in the register and follow-ups noted.

02A shift, start to finish

A shift starts with the OHC handover and a round of the first-aid boxes and eye-wash stations in your zone. Between cases you help with routine health work: checking blood pressure and weight for the doctor’s clinics, keeping medicines and consumables stocked, and filing records. When a serious call comes, you go with the stretcher kit, give first aid, call the emergency number, arrange transport and stay with the person until they are handed over. Every case ends with a clear written record.

03Your skill in SuperGig Partner

In the app this is #1906 First-Aid / Occupational Health Assistant, under Facility, Housekeeping & Safety. NCO-2015 has no first-aider occupation, so the app maps it to the national First Aid Care course at NSQF level 2.5 and ESCO’s “provide first aid” skill. It is yours at L1 the moment you add it. #2009 First-Aid Certified is a separate certificate skill that counts only once SuperGig verifies it, and a shift can ask for both. This is first aid and support work: it does not replace a doctor or a nurse.

Skill #1906 · Levels

First-aid and OHC assistant levels, L1 Starter to L5 Master

You stock first-aid boxes and help with simple cases while the nurse or a senior first aider leads.

  2. L2Skilled

You handle routine minor injuries on your own and keep the register complete.

  3. L3Proficient

You cover the first-aid room for a shift and respond calmly to emergencies until help arrives.

  4. L4Expert

You lead the first response in serious incidents and organise the first aiders on the shift.

  5. L5Master

You train first aiders across the plant and help the OHC improve its readiness.

How your level rises

#1906 First-Aid / Occupational Health Assistant starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Each skill climbs from L1 to L5. Only SuperGig sets a level, from your record, never the app. Three things move it up:

  • Approved shifts in the skillShifts a plant approved that listed this skill when it was posted.
  • Arriving on timeAn arrival SuperGig verified, such as the WorkPass check at the gate.
  • How plants rate your workIt counts once a plant has rated you. Before that it never holds you back.

The app shows what your next level needs.

The skill check on a shift

A plant can list skills on a shift with one minimum level for all of them, from L1 to L5. You need every listed skill at that level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.

A shift with no skills listed has no skill check: any KYC-verified Partner can book it.

Questions

Questions about first-aid and OHC assistant jobs

Can’t find your answer? Call or WhatsApp us. We speak English, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada.

Asked to pay for a shift?

Don’t pay. SuperGig never charges Partners to join or to get a shift.

Tell us
Do I need to be a nurse to work first-aid shifts?
No. #1906 is first aid and support work in a plant’s first-aid room or OHC, under a doctor or nurse where the plant has one. A shift may ask for #2009 First-Aid Certified, which counts once SuperGig verifies it; nursing and medical treatment are not part of this skill.
What is an OHC in a factory?
OHC stands for occupational health centre: a plant’s own medical room, usually with a doctor or nurse on set hours, where first aid is given, health checks are done and records are kept. First-aid and occupational health assistants support it and look after the first-aid boxes around the plant.
Are first-aid shifts available at night?
A plant that runs a night shift needs first aid at night too, so it may post night first-aid shifts; the card shows the hours before you book. Switch on the Night slot (10 PM – 6 AM) in My Availability if you want them. See night shift jobs.
How do I get first-aid work near Whitefield with SuperGig?
Whitefield’s electronics and engineering units, and the plants out along Old Madras Road, all need first aid on site. Add #1906 in My Skills and set your travel distance; when they post first-aid shifts, they show on the Find Shifts map with the pay. See jobs in Whitefield.
What should I do first in a factory emergency?
Make the scene safe, raise the alarm and call 112, then give first aid. Do not move a casualty unless they are in danger where they are. On a live SuperGig shift, the SOS button in the app leads with 112, India’s emergency number, because SuperGig is not an emergency service.
How is #2009 First-Aid Certified verified?
Add #2009 in My Skills and tap “Ask SuperGig to verify”. SuperGig support calls you, checks the original certificate and matches the name on it against your verified Aadhaar. Once verified, it stays on your profile, and shifts that list it open to you.
