A safety officer or EHS supervisor runs the everyday controls that keep a plant’s people and environment safe: work permits, inspections, toolbox talks, PPE, contractor safety, incident reports and environmental checks such as waste and effluent. Add skill #1905 Safety Officer / EHS Supervisor in the SuperGig Partner app, and when plants in Hosur and around Bengaluru post EHS shifts, you see each one on the map with its pay before you book, as a shift rather than a permanent post.

What safety officer and EHS supervisor work involves
01What the work is
EHS stands for environment, health and safety. On a typical day an EHS supervisor reviews and issues permits for risky work, such as hot work, work at height, confined space entry and electrical isolation with lockout and tagout, then checks on site that the controls are really in place. There is a toolbox talk for contractors and shift teams, and a walk round the plant looking for unsafe acts and conditions. Incidents and near misses are investigated to find the root cause, not someone to blame. On the environment side come waste storage and segregation, effluent and emission records, and the paperwork that audits rely on.
02A shift, start to finish
EHS shifts tend to follow the plant’s risk: a maintenance shutdown with many contractors on site, a project with heavy lifting and work at height, or cover for night and weekend production. A shift may start at the permit desk with the contractors’ induction, move on to site rounds and audits of the permits in progress, and end with a closing report of open observations, permits closed, any incidents and the actions agreed. Clear writing and calm authority matter as much as knowledge, because the job is to stop unsafe work politely and firmly.
03Your skill in SuperGig Partner
In the app this is #1905 Safety Officer / EHS Supervisor, matched to NCO-2015 3257.0600 (Health, Safety and Environment Officer); the national Safety Supervisor (OSHE) qualification it is mapped to sits at NSQF level 4.5. It starts at L1 when you add it, and SuperGig raises it only from your record of approved EHS shifts. To be honest about what this is: SuperGig books shifts, not appointments. Where the law requires a plant to appoint its own safety officer, that is the plant’s own appointment, and a high level in #1905 is not a title, a promotion or a promise of work.

How your level rises
#1905 Safety Officer / EHS Supervisor starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Each skill climbs from L1 to L5. Only SuperGig sets a level, from your record, never the app. Three things move it up:
- Approved shifts in the skillShifts a plant approved that listed this skill when it was posted.

The skill check on a shift
A plant can list skills on a shift with one minimum level for all of them, from L1 to L5. You need every listed skill at that level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.
