What rubber moulding and vulcanising work involves
01What the work is
Rubber parts are everywhere in a vehicle or machine: oil seals, O-rings, gaskets, grommets, anti-vibration mounts, bellows and hoses. They start as a compound of raw rubber, fillers and curatives mixed in the mill room, then go to the moulding presses. In compression moulding a weighed blank is placed straight in the heated mould and the press closes; in transfer moulding the compound is pushed from a pot into closed cavities; injection presses feed it from a screw. Heat and pressure vulcanise, or cure, the rubber so it holds its shape and springs back. After curing, parts are demoulded, the thin flash is trimmed off, and some go for post-curing in an oven.
02A shift, start to finish
A moulding shift starts with the job card: compound, blank weight, mould temperature, cure time and pressure. You check the platens are at temperature, cut or weigh blanks, load cavities evenly and close the press, then demould at the end of the cure time, often with air and hand tools, without tearing the parts. Each batch is checked for under-cure, blisters, non-fills, flow marks and flash, and sample sizes and hardness may be checked with a gauge and a Shore A durometer. Trimmed parts are counted and packed, mould faces are kept clean of build-up, and the cure log is filled for the next shift.
03Your skill in SuperGig Partner
#1014 starts at L1 in My Skills. Plants can post rubber moulding shifts with a minimum level, and an operator who already reads cure problems is worth more to a plant on a busy line, which a higher level shows. SuperGig raises your level from approved #1014 shifts, verified on-time arrivals and plant ratings.

How your level rises
#1014 Rubber Moulding / Vulcanising Operator starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Each skill climbs from L1 to L5. Only SuperGig sets a level, from your record, never the app. Three things move it up:
- Approved shifts in the skillShifts a plant approved that listed this skill when it was posted.
- Arriving on timeAn arrival SuperGig verified, such as the WorkPass check at the gate.
- How plants rate your workIt counts once a plant has rated you. Before that it never holds you back.
The app shows what your next level needs.
The skill check on a shift
A plant can list skills on a shift with one minimum level for all of them, from L1 to L5. You need every listed skill at that level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.
A shift with no skills listed has no skill check: any KYC-verified Partner can book it.
