What garment cutting and checking work involves
01What the work is
The cutting room decides how well a garment fits and how much fabric is wasted. Fabric is spread layer upon layer on long tables, edges aligned and tension even, and the marker, the paper plan of all the pattern pieces, is laid on top. Cutters follow the marker with a straight knife or band knife, cut notches, number every panel so shades do not mix, and tie them into bundles for the sewing line. Checking happens after sewing: inline and end-of-line checkers look at every garment or a sample of it for open seams, skipped stitches, puckering, wrong labels, stains and shade differences, and measure key points against the size chart.
02A shift, start to finish
A cutting shift starts with the cut order: style, sizes, colours and the number of plies. You check the fabric for faults and shade lots as you spread, keep each layer flat and aligned, and cut cleanly along the marker lines, keeping the knife upright so top and bottom plies match. Then come numbering, bundling and the ticket for each bundle. A checking shift is quieter but needs sharp eyes: you turn each garment inside out and back, run the measurement tape over the key points, mark defects with a sticker or tag, send repairs back to the right operator, trim loose threads, and record what you passed and rejected so the line can see its own mistakes.
03Your skill in SuperGig Partner
#1016 starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Plants can list it on a shift with a minimum level, for example a higher level for knife cutting than for thread trimming and checking. Your approved #1016 shifts, verified on-time arrivals and plant ratings make the record SuperGig raises your level from.

How your level rises
#1016 Garment Cutting / Checking starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Each skill climbs from L1 to L5. Only SuperGig sets a level, from your record, never the app. Three things move it up:
- Approved shifts in the skillShifts a plant approved that listed this skill when it was posted.
- Arriving on timeAn arrival SuperGig verified, such as the WorkPass check at the gate.
- How plants rate your workIt counts once a plant has rated you. Before that it never holds you back.
The app shows what your next level needs.
The skill check on a shift
A plant can list skills on a shift with one minimum level for all of them, from L1 to L5. You need every listed skill at that level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.
A shift with no skills listed has no skill check: any KYC-verified Partner can book it.
