A die casting operator runs high-pressure die casting (HPDC) machines that force molten aluminium or zinc into a steel die, then extracts, quenches and trims the castings and checks them for porosity, cold shuts and flash. In SuperGig Partner this is skill #1004: add it, do KYC, and book the casting shifts that plants in Hosur and Bengaluru post, with the pay shown before you book.

What die casting operator work involves
01What the work is
High-pressure die casting makes gearbox and clutch housings, motor and pump bodies, brackets and covers for cars, two-wheelers and electrical goods. In a cold-chamber machine, molten aluminium is ladled into a shot sleeve and a plunger drives it into the die in a fraction of a second; the metal freezes, the die opens and ejector pins push the casting out. Between shots, release agent is sprayed on the die faces. The casting then goes through a quench tank and a trim press that removes the biscuit, runners and overflows. Operators run this cell; die maintenance and process settings sit with the die caster and the process engineer.
02A shift, start to finish
A die casting shift is hot, fast and repetitive. You check the die temperature and spray pattern at the start, watch the holding furnace level and the auto-ladle, and keep the cycle moving: extract the casting with tongs or watch the robot do it, quench, trim, and inspect. You look for cold shuts, misruns, flash, soldering marks and blisters, and separate scrap castings for remelting. Shot counts and rejects go on the job card. When castings start sticking or flashing, you report it rather than adjusting the machine, and you keep the area around the furnace clear and dry.
03Your skill in SuperGig Partner
Add #1004 in My Skills and it starts at L1. A plant can post HPDC shifts with a minimum level and list what to wear, such as an aluminised apron and face shield. Your approved shifts in #1004, verified on-time arrivals and plant ratings make up the record SuperGig uses to raise your level.

How your level rises
#1004 Die Casting Operator (HPDC) starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Each skill climbs from L1 to L5. Only SuperGig sets a level, from your record, never the app. Three things move it up:
- Approved shifts in the skillShifts a plant approved that listed this skill when it was posted.
- Arriving on timeAn arrival SuperGig verified, such as the WorkPass check at the gate.
- How plants rate your workIt counts once a plant has rated you. Before that it never holds you back.
The app shows what your next level needs.
The skill check on a shift
A plant can list skills on a shift with one minimum level for all of them, from L1 to L5. You need every listed skill at that level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.
A shift with no skills listed has no skill check: any KYC-verified Partner can book it.
