CNC programmer jobs in Hosur & Bengaluru
Also calledVMC programmer,HMC programmer,CNC setter programmer,G-code programmer,CNC programming engineer,CAM programmer (machining)
A CNC programmer plans how a part will be machined on vertical and horizontal machining centres, writes or generates the program, sets the tools and work offsets, and proves the first part until it measures right. In SuperGig Partner this is skill #1102: plants book it by number and level like every skill, and when plants in Hosur and Bengaluru post programming or prove-out shifts you see them with the pay before you book.

What CNC programmer work involves
01What the work is
Programming starts with the drawing. The programmer studies the part, its datums, tolerances and geometric callouts, and decides how it will be held, in which order the faces and features will be machined, and with which tools, speeds and feeds. On a VMC that may mean two or three set-ups in a vice or fixture; on an HMC with a rotary table and pallets, several faces can be machined in one clamping, and the programmer plans the indexing. The program itself is written by hand in G and M code for simple work, or generated from a 3D model with CAM software and post-processed for the machine’s control.
02A shift, start to finish
A programmer’s shift is mostly at the machine. You load the program, set tool length offsets with a presetter or on the machine, set work offsets with an edge finder or spindle probe, and run the first part with reduced rapid and feed overrides, in single block where it matters, watching every approach. The first part goes to the inspector or the CMM; you correct dimensions, chase surface finish and burrs, and then work on cycle time without losing quality. Finally you document the set-up sheet, tool list and offsets so operators on every shift can run the job the same way.
03Your skill in SuperGig Partner
#1102 is a skill in the CNC & Machining category, numbered like any other, and it starts at L1 when you add it. Plants can post shifts that ask for #1102 at a minimum level, for example for a new part, a prove-out or a night-shift set-up. SuperGig raises your level only from your record: approved #1102 shifts, verified on-time arrivals and plant ratings. The app makes no promise about titles or pay; plants show the pay on each shift before you book.
What you do on CNC programmer shifts
The usual tasks of the trade. Every shift in SuperGig Partner has its own job description with the duties, so you know the work before you book.
- 01
Study the drawing
Read datums, tolerances and geometric callouts, and plan set-ups and the order of operations.
- 02
Write or generate the program
Write G-code by hand or create toolpaths in CAM, and simulate them before the machine.
- 03
Set tools and work offsets
Set tool lengths and work offsets with a presetter, edge finder or spindle probe.
- 04
Prove out the first part
Run with reduced overrides and single block, and stop before anything looks wrong.
- 05
Correct to the report
Correct sizes and finish from the inspection or CMM report until the part passes.
- 06
Document the set-up
Write the set-up sheet, tool list and offsets so every shift runs it the same way.
Machines, instruments and tools
- Vertical machining centre (VMC)
- Spindle vertical; parts in vices and fixtures on the table.
- Horizontal machining centre (HMC)
- Spindle horizontal, with a rotary table and pallets for multi-face work.
- CAM software
- Creates toolpaths from 3D models and posts code for the machine’s control.
- Tool presetter
- Measures tool lengths and diameters off the machine.
- Spindle probe and edge finder
- Locate the part’s datums to set work offsets.
- Inspection and CMM reports
- The measurements that tell you what to correct.
Safety and PPE
Every plant sets its own safety rules. A shift can list what to bring or wear and the hard parts of the work, so read it before you book.
- Prove out slowlyUse reduced rapids, feed override and single block on the first run of any new program.
- Interlocks stay onNever run with the doors open or an interlock bypassed, even during prove-out.
- Heavy fixturesUse the crane or hoist for heavy fixtures and pallets, never your back.
- Hands off sharp cuttersHandle end mills and inserts with care and keep cutters covered in storage.
CNC programmer levels, L1 Starter to L5 Master
Plants book by skill number and level. Add the numbered skills you can do; each one climbs from L1 to L5 as plants approve your shifts in it.
- L1Starter
Edits simple programs and sets offsets on a familiar machine with guidance.
- L2Skilled
Writes programs for straightforward VMC parts and proves them out safely.
- L3Proficient
Programs multi-set-up parts with CAM and brings first parts within tolerance without help.
- L4Expert
Programs HMC and rotary work, reduces cycle times and writes clear set-up sheets.
- L5Master
A programmer plants trust with new, complex parts on any machining centre, with a long #1102 record.
How your level rises
#1102 CNC Programmer (VMC/HMC) starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Each skill climbs from L1 to L5. Only SuperGig sets a level, from your record, never the app. Three things move it up:
- Approved shifts in the skillShifts a plant approved that listed this skill when it was posted.
- Arriving on timeAn arrival SuperGig verified, such as the WorkPass check at the gate.
- How plants rate your workIt counts once a plant has rated you. Before that it never holds you back.
The app shows what your next level needs.
The skill check on a shift
A plant can list skills on a shift with one minimum level for all of them, from L1 to L5. You need every listed skill at that level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.
A shift with no skills listed has no skill check: any KYC-verified Partner can book it.
