What TPM and lubrication technician work involves
01What the work is
Many machine failures start with lubrication: the wrong oil, too little grease, too much grease, dirt in the oil, or a point nobody reached. A lubrication technician follows a route through the plant, machine by machine and point by point, with the right lubricant, the right amount and the right interval for each. The job covers grease points on bearings and slides, oil levels in gearboxes and hydraulic tanks, oil changes on schedule, central lubrication pumps and their lines, and the storage of lubricants in clean, labelled, colour-coded containers so no oil reaches the wrong machine. TPM, total productive maintenance, adds the habits around it: clean, inspect and lubricate standards, abnormality tags, and visual controls such as level marks and match marks on bolts.
02A shift, start to finish
A lubrication shift runs on the route sheet. You collect the day’s lubricants from the lube store, check each container’s label and colour code, and walk the route: wipe each nipple before greasing, give the measured shots and no more, check sight glasses and top up to the mark, and refill central lube reservoirs. On the way you look and listen: a hot bearing, a new leak, a loose guard or a noisy chain gets an abnormality tag and a line in the log for the maintenance team. Oil and filter changes happen on their planned dates, usually when machines are stopped, and used oil goes to the plant’s waste store.
03Your skill in SuperGig Partner
#1508 sits in Maintenance & Mechanical and is mapped to NCO-2015 3131.0700 Oiler and Greaser, Stationary Engine and Machinery; the app’s standards list no NSQF qualification for it, and TPM itself has no standard occupation code. The skill has no licence gate, so it starts at L1 when you add it, which makes it a good first maintenance skill. #1501 Maintenance Technician (General) and #1502 Mechanical Maintenance Fitter are the skills that sit closest to it.

How your level rises
#1508 TPM / Lubrication Technician starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Each skill climbs from L1 to L5. Only SuperGig sets a level, from your record, never the app. Three things move it up:
- Approved shifts in the skillShifts a plant approved that listed this skill when it was posted.
- Arriving on timeAn arrival SuperGig verified, such as the WorkPass check at the gate.
- How plants rate your workIt counts once a plant has rated you. Before that it never holds you back.
The app shows what your next level needs.
The skill check on a shift
A plant can list skills on a shift with one minimum level for all of them, from L1 to L5. You need every listed skill at that level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.
A shift with no skills listed has no skill check: any KYC-verified Partner can book it.
