A shrink-wrap and strapping operator secures cartons and loaded pallets for the road: stretch- or shrink-wrapping them, binding them with plastic or steel straps, and adding corner boards and labels so the load reaches the customer intact. Add skill #1804 Shrink-Wrap / Strapping Operator in the SuperGig Partner app, and when plants in Hosur and the Bengaluru hubs post wrapping and strapping shifts, each one shows on the map with its pay before you book.

What shrink-wrap and strapping work involves
01What the work is
This is the last step of packing, often called tertiary packing. Stretch film is pulled tight around a pallet by hand or on a turntable machine, binding the cartons into one load; shrink film is placed over goods and heated with a gun or in a tunnel until it tightens. Strapping goes round cartons or pallets with PP or PET plastic strap, or steel strap for heavy metal goods, tensioned and sealed. Done well, a pallet arrives square and stable; done badly, it leans, sheds cartons or crushes the bottom layer.
02A shift, start to finish
A shift starts with the machine: film loaded and threaded, strap coils loaded, the heat gun or tunnel checked, and the turntable’s guard and stop button tested. Pallets arrive from packing, and you check each stack is square, within the height limit and labelled on the outside, add corner boards where needed, then wrap with extra turns at the top and the base and strap at the marked positions. Each finished pallet gets its pallet label and goes to dispatch staging, and film and strap offcuts go into their own bins for recycling.
03Your skill in SuperGig Partner
In the app this is #1804 Shrink-Wrap / Strapping Operator, under Packing & Dispatch. NCO-2015 lists no occupations in its unit group, so the app maps it to ISCO-08 group 8183 and to the national Tertiary Goods Packaging Machine Operator qualification at NSQF level 4. It starts at L1 when you add it, with no licence. It pairs naturally with #1801 Packing Operator and #1704 Material Handler / Loader, and a plant can ask for all of them on one shift.

How your level rises
#1804 Shrink-Wrap / Strapping Operator starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Each skill climbs from L1 to L5. Only SuperGig sets a level, from your record, never the app. Three things move it up:
- Approved shifts in the skillShifts a plant approved that listed this skill when it was posted.
- Arriving on timeAn arrival SuperGig verified, such as the WorkPass check at the gate.
- How plants rate your workIt counts once a plant has rated you. Before that it never holds you back.
The app shows what your next level needs.
The skill check on a shift
A plant can list skills on a shift with one minimum level for all of them, from L1 to L5. You need every listed skill at that level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.
A shift with no skills listed has no skill check: any KYC-verified Partner can book it.
