What food processing operator work involves
01What the work is
Food plants make snacks, biscuits, bread, spices, ready mixes, dairy products, beverages and frozen foods, and every line has the same three concerns: the recipe, the process and hygiene. Ingredients are weighed to a batch sheet, mixed, cooked, baked, fried, extruded or pasteurised, then filled, sealed and coded. Food safety plans based on HACCP name the critical control points, such as a cooking temperature or the metal detector, where a check must be done and written down every time. Lines are cleaned and sanitised between runs, often with a CIP system that circulates cleaning solutions through tanks and pipes.
02A shift, start to finish
A food processing shift starts at the hygiene entry: hairnet, mask if required, clean uniform, no jewellery, handwash and sanitiser, and boots changed. You check the line was cleaned and released, weigh and add ingredients to the batch sheet, watch the process readings and the product itself, and test the metal detector with its test pieces at the set times. Batch codes and dates are checked on packs. Allergen changeovers and cleaning follow the plant’s procedure exactly, and anything that may be unsafe, such as a missed temperature or a broken piece of plastic, is held and reported, not thrown away quietly.
03Your skill in SuperGig Partner
Add #1017 in My Skills and it starts at L1. Plants can list it on a shift with a minimum level, and some may also list a verified food-safety certificate as a skill. SuperGig raises your #1017 level from approved shifts, verified on-time arrivals and plant ratings.

How your level rises
#1017 Food Processing Operator starts at L1 when you add it in My Skills. Each skill climbs from L1 to L5. Only SuperGig sets a level, from your record, never the app. Three things move it up:
- Approved shifts in the skillShifts a plant approved that listed this skill when it was posted.
- Arriving on timeAn arrival SuperGig verified, such as the WorkPass check at the gate.
- How plants rate your workIt counts once a plant has rated you. Before that it never holds you back.
The app shows what your next level needs.
The skill check on a shift
A plant can list skills on a shift with one minimum level for all of them, from L1 to L5. You need every listed skill at that level, and SuperGig checks yours before the booking is accepted.
A shift with no skills listed has no skill check: any KYC-verified Partner can book it.
